[29.05.2010] HD quality World Cup for Dolce customers

“Starting June 4th 2010, Romtelecom Dolce customers will be able to enjoy the HD experience based on a newly available package aiming to extend boundaries for home entertainment,” announced Ovidiu Ghiman, Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer Romtelecom, during the Communications’ Day conference held today, May 27.

HD standard ensures up to five times more clear images than standard definition, thus offering customers a more vivid and real experience and is the perfect choice for those who already have in their homes a HD ready or Full HD TV set.

All Romtelecom Dolce digital satellite television customers can subscribe to the Dolce HD package which contains at this moment the following channels: TVR HD, ProTV HD, Sport.ro HD, Discovery Showcase HD at the tariff of 4.9 Euros, VAT excluded. Movie fans will also receive promotionally HBO HD during the first 3 months after the activation.

“At the tariff of just one cinema ticket our customers may access for one whole month quality and diversified content for the entire family; content will continue to be enriched in the following period,” added the Romtelecom official.

Both new and existing customers with at least one year contract can acquire HD receivers for special prices starting from 49 Euros, VAT excluded.

“HD quality provides such a level of details, that viewers may feel like they are actually in the picture. That is why we made the effort to launch Dolce HD before the beginning of the World Cup because we wanted to make sure that we can provide to our customers a memorable experience by giving them the possibility to watch the matches broadcasted on TVR HD'.

Moreover, the sport fans can join us in Football City during the international competition, a place where they can get familiarized also with IPTV technology while cheering up their favourite team. If they prefer to stay at home, we made sure that all the approximately 900,000 Dolce households will have live access to all matches from the World Cup, the same as NextGen customers. I believe Romanians need now more than ever good surprising news and we hope we are offering them one with this decision, to have Telesport available free of charge for all customers for two months in the basic packages during the international event,” added Ovidiu Ghiman.

Between June 1st- July 31, all Romtelecom Dolce and NextGen customers will benefit of Telesport channel without any additional cost, regardless if they are subscribers of the Sports supplementary package or not. Thus, they will have access to the exclusive 8 live games from World Cup FIFA 2010 and the other 44 registered ones, plus dedicated debates shows and summaries of each game, close to 300 hours of football events.
Football City will open its gates on June 10 at the Zone Arena in Bucharest and will accommodate more than 1,500 people daily in a 8,000 sqm open air space where sport fans will come to feel the stadium atmosphere and watchthe matches at HD quality.
