The Canal+ name has vanished from Dutch television screens as new owner Chellomedia stamps its authority over pay-TV in The Netherlands. Out goes the two old Canal+ channels, branded Red and Blue, in comes four movie channels under the Film1 moniker and Sport1 a dedicated sports channel that will have the capability of offering up to eight football matches simultaneously. Chellomedia is making much of the move from analogue to digital distribution in the highly cabled Dutch market. A move that will be boosted by the conversion to digital of chellomedia€™s sister company, the dominant cable operator UPC.
