[08.11.2006] Uefa launches Champions League video

Uefa Video Service (UVS) has launched live broadband coverage of the Champions League football competition. The feed is available to Internet users in 96 countries and has been developed by Uefa to allow its broadcast partners to provide live match coverage through broadband Internet. In many cases it is now a condition of their rights agreement that broadcasters provide match coverage in this way. Over 20 broadcasters are now using the system that covers every Uefa Champions League match of the 2006/07 season and every Uefa Cup match from the quarterfinal stage. An archive feature has also been introduced, providing a comprehensive archive of over 5,000 videos and 1,000 matches. The service has been developed through technology partners NTT Verio, DeltaTre and Entriq.
